My Momma Told Me

Hey everyone,

So many things have happened since I last posted on my blog. First there was the awful devastation in Joplin, MO where my prayers are extended to every night. My momma always told me to be thankful for what I have and here is a prime example why.

I “survived” my first week of work. So far it has been amazing experience and I have met so many great people! I have been working very hard on the National Junior Angus Show preparation. I have been organizing all aspects of the various contest held throughout the week as well as organizing and contacting judges for those contest. Soon I will be going through all of the entries for the photography, creative writing and graphic design contest and processing all of them for the judges. Lots of things still ahead of me.

This past weekend was our first weekend in the SJ. I checked out the sights on Friday night as Shelia took Katie and I for a tour around the town and then out to eat and enjoy some chit chat at the Tap Room Bar and Grill. Being the hard working business women that we are we retired early, watched a movie and called it a night. On Saturday, I caught up on some much needed sleep, but I was only able to sleep in till 8 a.m. which was quite shocking to myself as I usually enjoy the 9-10 a.m. range. After lounging around the house and working on some homework, I decided to go exploring around the town. I went for a little pampering session and got my nails and toes done at Kevin’s nail. It’s amazing what a little TLC can do for someone.

The end result

I also checked out some of the local stores in the area. That night we had “family” supper and movie night and grilled out some delicious (as much as I hate to admit it) CAB steaks with some grilled veggies. It was sooo scrumptious! Then we all settled down to watch a few movies and spend some time together.

The next day Katie, Jill and I are went to the Cardinals vs. Royals game at Royals stadium. It was so much fun and after a LONG game the Cardinals finally pulled out a victory. However, being at the game reminded me of some of the lessons my momma told me. My mom is always known to be prepared if not over prepared for almost every situation in life. Me, being the responsible young adult that I am decided that there was no need for a few things that were very vital. First, I brought a jacket as there was a chance of rain in the forecast but decided to leave it in the car. Luck would have it we received a light shower at the start of the game, but that became a good break to get up and move around. Secondly, I decided that my skin and white legs were invincible and decided there was no need to put on or bring with me any sunblock….MAN WAS I WRONG! By the end of the day, Katie, Jill and I were just a bit on the burnt side. Katie and I immediately went and found some aloe vera gel upon returning to the SJ. Needless to say, we walked into the office on Monday sporting dresses as our legs burnt so bad and some very bright red legs and knees. In short, if I would just listen to those things that my momma always told me I wouldn’t have been suffering quite so much pain this week.!!
